The verb (Compliment) - "to be"

Exercise - The Compliment "to be" - Positive

Terminal -k changes to when adding a suffix beginning with a vowel: (sokağ -ım)
Some of the answers are in the Present Tense and some in the Past - Be careful!

Examples with Answers

  1. büyük bir köpek(tir) - it is a big dog
  2. köpek büyük(tür) - the dog is big
  3. sokağım uzun(dur) - my street is long
  4. uzun bir sokak(tır) - it is a long street
  5. caddem dardı - my road was narrow
  6. dar bir caddeydi - it was a narrow road

Note: The verb "to be" is only usually added when making:
(1) A Statement of Fact - (eg. "Iron is a metal..")
(2) As a Public Advice or Caution - (eg. "The engine IS hot..")

Having said that, we have appended the verb "to be" for practice purposes in the following exercises.
